WELL-BEING

If only I could put you in an ancient amber bottle
to open at my will

Uncork to release you
like the early morning mist
alive with silence and possibilities

If only I could wrap you up and give you as a gift
to those I love with all my heart

But you come only from our deepest place
made up of pieces of ourselves

And only in the moments
when all aligns in time

In this moment it’s the coolness in the air
and my sweet cat idly watching cars make their way
along the pitted sandy road

It’s the gentle strings wafting through the rooms
of this little place I live

And while the candle burning solitary
scents the air with hints of treasured memories
my eye rests on a single rose
and something softens deep inside

Oh, it’s the safety of this place
that coats the walls with warmth
and creates a perfect nesting place for me

My cat has moved from the window
and wrapped in her own
stretches out in the rectangular patch of sunlight
designed to fit her form

Well-being ? like a living thing I cherish you
when you settle over me and smother me in veils

And I pause my day
to absorb the perfect moments that you bring
and add them to the well I fill inside myself
to draw from when the air becomes too thick to breathe
