Community Access to the Arts nurtures and celebrates the creativity of people with disabilities through shared experiences in the visual and performing arts.
I am proud to be part of CATA as a faculty artist. In the workshops the participants explore their differences and share how they are affected by them. They write from their memories, about the hopes they have for themselves, their friends and family, and for the world. They write just to make us all laugh. Some participants work with scribes. Some work alone. In this safe, supportive setting, the trust and openness allows them to learn from each other. We laugh and we cry and we care and then we laugh some more.
